Choosing SPC vinyl flooring
SPC is a rigid core of limestone powder and PVC, pressed dense and thin. It has no wood fiber, so standing water does not swell it, and it barely moves when a room heats up.
Over the printed wood sits a clear wear layer, measured in mil and stated on each product page. A 12 mil layer is graded for a whole house, and 20 mil for heavy residential and light commercial floors. The thickest in stock is 28 mil.
The planks are 48 or 60 inches long, and most colors have transition moldings in the same color. SPC will not bridge a bump, so the subfloor has to be flat, and the boxes acclimate in the room before the job starts. The stock is held in Deerfield Beach and Orlando.
